“A world where indigenous peoples’ rights, embedded in the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and other Human Rights Conventions and instruments, are respected, protected and fulfilled; where there are unified yet diverse and vibrant indigenous peoples’ movements, formations and communities at various levels, which persist in asserting indigenous peoples’ human rights and achieving sustainable, self-determined development; where respect for diversity, human rights, solidarity and reciprocity with nature and all creation is the basis of coexistence between peoples and between human beings and the natural world.”
Our Mission
- Working to ensure the proper implementation of the UNDRIP by States, UN System, other multilateral global and regional bodies, non-state actors such as corporations and NGOs, and indigenous peoples, themselves;
- Expounding and implementing a holistic framework and strategy for sustainable and self-determined development of indigenous peoples (IPSSDD), which integrates the human rights-, ecosystem- and knowledge-based approaches, sustainable livelihoods, and the intercultural approach;
- Promoting this framework and strategy through education and training; research, communication and publication; cross-learning community visits; policy advocacy, campaigns and networking; institutional development and resource generation and management; and implementation on the ground.
