Under Component 2 (Sub-component 2.1: Regional Learning and Exchange), this regional workshop was organized to share knowledge products on REDD+, good practices and lessons learned from implemented capacity building sub-projects and other knowledge generated by the project. It was held in Bangkok, Thailand on 2 – 4 October 2018 participated by indigenous peoples’ organizations (IPOs) representatives and governments from the Kingdom of Bhutan, Kingdom of Cambodia, Republic of Fiji, Republic of Indonesia, Nepal, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Independent State of Papua New Guinea, Kingdom of Thailand, and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. There were also representatives from donors such as World Bank and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
This regional workshop brought together the above participants to facilitate knowledge sharing and to foster south/ south exchange on good lessons learned from implementation of national level activities. The workshop objectives were:
- To bring together representatives of governments, programmes and indigenous peoples and their organizations involved in REDD+ processes to share their experiences, good practices and lessons learned;
- To identify issues and concerns of indigenous peoples/forest-dependent communities in relation to REDD+ design and implementation;
- To unite on possible ways forward to address the issues and concerns; and
- To discuss briefly the approved Additional Financing.
